Le Vibrazioni

About:

The band was formed in 1999 in Milan by Francesco Sarcina, Stefano Verderi, Marco Castellani and Alessandro Deidda. After some years spent playing in Milan clubs without publishing any songs, the group manages to debut on the marked with the single 'Dedicato a te' in 2003, which soon become a Disco di Platino. The band Elio e le Storie Tese even made a parody on this hitsingle. Their first album, 'Le Vibrazioni', sold more then 300,000 copies. The single '...E se ne va' became the themesong for the movie 'Tre metri sopra il cielo' which pushed their popularity even more. During the clubtour the band already worked on their second album simply called ‘II’. In 2005 they entered the San Remo competition with the song ‘Ovunque andrò’, also to be found on the album. The album was still succesfull but much less then their debut. In an attempt to widen their audience they adapted a more rocksound for their third album ‘Officine Meccaniche’. In early 2008 Castellani (bass) leaves the band to join Octopus to be replaced by Emmanuel Gardossi. With him they cooperate in the video ‘Drammaturgia’ an Italian remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. A second soundtracksingle ‘Insolita ‘ was made for the movie ‘Colpo d'occhio’. A livealbum closed the year. In 2010 the album ‘Le Strade Del Tempo’ was the first album in the new line up. In summer the delivered the official World Cup song ‘Invocazioni al cielo’ for Sky Sport. The song was later added to the album.

What do we think:

DB: The Coldplay of Italy but then funkier. At least if you listen to their excellent 2010 album. Epic compositions, good vocals, pointy guitars, it's all there. The albums made before 'Officine Meccaniche' are OK but lacking specific character. But it's good that a band grows, that gives perpective for the future. Promising Italian rockband.
