About:

Pariisin Kevät (Spring of Paris) actually began as a solo project by soundengineer Arto Tuunela (18 july 1979) in 2007 as a side project to his work with the alternative rockgroup Major Label. Tuunela remained the sole band member for the first two studio albums, however for the tour following the release of Astronautti, a live band was formed. For this guitarist Artturi Taira (from the band Rubik) and drummer Reko Aho joined as full bandmembers. With this team the more mature sounding 'Kaikki On Satua' was recorded. This album meant their breakthrough to a broader audience. In between touring the follow up 'Jossain on tie ulos' was recorded.

Tuunela also keeps up his work as soundengineer at the Finnvox studio's where he produced Pete Parkkosen's second album 'I'm An Accident'.

What do we think:

DB: There is some great alternative music coming from Finland and if you're into the Scandinavian sound of Kent and Mew, Pariisin Kevät is absolutely up your alley. Although Tuunela is the main character in the band they succeed in sounding truly organic in the way they make music. 'Kaikki On Satua' is a great album to step in with hints of Finnish folklore, gothic fairytale themes, Arto’s icy thin voice and tinkling guitar pop.
