Scandinavia Bookmark and Share

The popscene of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland we gather under this chapter about Scandinavia. Although each country has individual identities they do share the folkroot which lay the basis for current popular music. We refer here to the traditional Nordic folk dance music which was popular throughout the Scandinavian countries.

Mixed with the rock ‘n roll influences that blew over from America and England were the start of the Scandinavian pop scene. Influences from the folk dance music can still be found today in popular music. There are individual differences of course, as you can read in the chapters in the left menu. But the common characteristic we found in Scandinavian pop music is that it either can be very light or very dark. From the lighthearted pop to very dark metal.
