What do we think:

PR: Maria is raw, lust and raw drama. Do not expect any silky produced Iglesias-style songs... Mary tells her songs from real life, and it is not always pretty. But with an enormous power and emotion! For me, after listening to an entire album, the flamenco gets a bit too much, but whenever I hear some of her songs, she gets to me again. The best introduction to this innovator of Spanish folk music is definitely 'Donde más duele'.

DB: This is Spanish popular music with a capitol P. As Paul Royal already states Jimenez is a piece of raw energy in true Flamenco tradition with a pop/rock feel. If there is such a thing as Spanish blues Maria's got it. Our Spanish friends always have to frown when we mention her. Allegedly she has a reputation of being rather 'present'. And we don't mean in the nice sense. Maria is a woman with balls.
